The SepiaReaper x Pimenta de Neyde pepper (also referenced as SepiaReaper x Neyde) is a fascinating hybrid resulting from the crossbreeding of two highly distinctive chili pepper varieties: the SepiaReaper (Sepia Serpent crossed with Reaper) and the Pimenta de Neyde. Not much is known about this specific cross's origins.

  • Color: The hybrid exhibits a blend of characteristics from both parents. The peppers often have a dark, almost black hue inherited from the Pimenta de Neyde, combined with the wrinkled, gnarled appearance of the Sepia Reaper.
  • Shape: Typically retains the elongated, pointed shape of the Carolina Reaper, sometimes with the signature tail.
  • Plant Characteristics: The plant may display dark purple stems and leaves, a trait from the Pimenta de Neyde.
  • Flavor: This hybrid combines the intense heat and fruity undertones of the Sepia Reaper with the fruity and smoky flavors of the Pimenta de Neyde. The result is a complex flavor profile that is both intensely hot and uniquely aromatic.
  • Aroma: Strong and pungent, with fruity and smoky notes.

The heat level of the SepiaReaper x Pimenta de Neyde hybrid can be very high, often exceeding 1,000,000 SHU, though it can vary. This pepper reminds you quickly that Reaper is involved through the throat burn. This pepper will likely not cause a lingering tongue or lip burn as much as others, but it will be noticed in the throat due to the Reaper.

The photos shown for this pepper are of the peach pheno variety, grown by Abercrombie Hot Peppers. The SepiaReaper x Pimenta de Neyde is standard at a dark red mixed with orange. Other phenotypes may exist but they are certainly rare.
